Introduction to hand-building
A creative, free, and mindful pause in the heart of Paris.

An intuitive approach to ceramics
Take a moment to slow down, breathe, and explore clay in a different way.
In a warm, light-filled studio, I invite you to discover hand-building — a gentle, accessible, and deeply intuitive ceramic practice.
Hand-building is one of the oldest shaping techniques, and also one of the freest.
Here, no wheel, no complex mechanisms — just your hands, a bit of clay, and the desire to create.
No experience or artistic skill needed: this class is designed for anyone wishing to take a first step into the world of ceramics, at their own pace, in a kind and inspiring space.
Whether you come alone or with someone, with a clear idea or simply the wish to feel the material, you’ll find in this workshop a space for listening, creating, and slowing down.
What you'll experience during this class
Over the course of 2.5 hours, I’ll guide you through the discovery of ceramic hand-building in a cosy, light-filled studio in Ménilmontant.
We’ll start with a short introduction to several techniques:
– **Pinching**, to shape volumes by gently hollowing out the clay,
– **Coiling**, to build rounded forms using long rolls of clay,
– **Slab building**, to play with lines, angles, and cut-out shapes.
Then, it's time for free creation. You'll be able to make one or two unique pieces, depending on your inspiration: a coffee cup, a small bowl, an organic trinket dish, or something more sculptural…
The goal isn’t to produce a “perfect piece”, but to reconnect with your hands and your creativity.
I’ll be there to guide and advise you, while also leaving room for the quiet focus the process sometimes calls for.
