Getting Started with Pottery - Frequently Asked Questions
My workshop and know-how
Not at all! All my classes are open to complete beginners as well as to the already curious.
I guide you step by step, at your own pace, in a warm and pressure-free environment.
The introductory class (2h30) offers a first encounter with clay, wheel throwing or hand-building, and the chance to create your very first pieces.
The trimester course provides regular, gradual learning to deepen your technique, understand the material, and gain confidence and independence.
Yes, absolutely!
You can book multiple spots in the same introductory session.
Nothing at all, I provide all the necessary materials: clay, tools, and aprons.
I simply invite you to come in comfortable clothes that can get a little messy, and to bring something to tie back your hair if it’s long.
During the introductory class, you’ll be able to shape 1 to 3 pieces depending on your pace.
In the trimester course, you’ll create several pieces and have time to trim, decorate, and glaze them.
Yes, I organise team-building sessions and tailor-made workshops for companies or private groups.
You can take a pottery class in my ceramics studio in Paris, a space dedicated to creation and learning to work with clay. I offer workshops accessible to beginners as well as to those with prior experience in wheel-throwing or hand-building. The studio is located in Paris and easily accessible by public transport.
Yes. Pottery workshops are open to beginners. Many participants discover ceramics for the first time. You learn the essential gestures: preparing the clay, centering on the wheel, hand-building, understanding the stages of drying and firing.
Hand-building consists of shaping the clay directly by hand, without a potter’s wheel. Wheel-throwing is practiced on a wheel and allows for creating more regular forms such as bowls or cups. In my ceramics studio in Paris 20, both techniques are offered depending on the sessions.
The price depends on the chosen format: discovery workshop, intensive course, weekly class, or gift card. Prices include clay, use of equipment, personalized guidance, and firing of the pieces. They range from €60 for a pottery discovery session to €580 for a term of evening classes.
You can create your first piece from the very first workshop. Mastering wheel-throwing requires more practice, but each session allows you to progress. Pottery is a patient and evolving learning process
Yes. The pieces go through a drying period, a first firing, then glazing and a second firing. You collect your finished creations afterward.
Yes, workshops are offered during the week and on weekends to adapt to Parisian schedules.
